Long before the dawn of Pokémon GO and Candy Crush, one game dominated our phones: good old-fashioned Snake. Spotify, the music streaming service, has added a version as a hidden function to its mobile app. Music fans can now relive their childhood memories.

You can find the “Eat This Playlist” feature in the options menu. It allows you to create your own customized soundtrack for the classic Snake. If you’re looking to experience more retro nostalgia, take a look at our collection of the best retro game consoles).

The original game has a similar design, with simple graphics and minimal color. The original’snake design’ (which was, if we are honest, just a rectangle of black) has been replaced with a white triangular shape that guides players around the map and collects various albums on the selected playlist. The snake changes song and album with each icon that is collected.

Click the three dots next to the Save option on the top page to launch the game. Then, scroll down the page to the “Eat this Playlist” option at the bottom. This will launch the Snake game.

If you want to feel nostalgic, I highly recommend listening to a playlist from the 2000s. For a more intense experience, create a dramatic video-game soundtrack playlist and get ready for high-tension gaming. Although I would not say this is the best method to enjoy your carefully-curated playlists it is certainly a fun and entertaining way to waste some time.
