British rapper Slowthai was charged with rape in Oxfordshire magistrates Court via video on Tuesday, May 16.
According to multiple reportsSlowthai has been charged with two counts rape. He claimed his innocence on social networks.
“Regarding the allegations being reported about me, I categorically deny the charges,” he wrote. “I am innocent and I am confident my name will be cleared. Up until then, I’ll do everything in my power to see that this case is quickly and justly resolved. I ask that my supporters don’t comment about this situation and respect the process and privacy of my family during this time.”
Slowthai was accused by prosecutors of raping an Oxford woman in September 2021. Authorities accused him of oral and vaginal piercing a woman without consent.
Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, did not enter a plea at Tuesday’s hearing. The next date for his court appearance is June 15.
