Missouri Brady Cook was the quarterback who led the Tigers. a huge 30–27 upset No. 15 Kansas State Saturday
Based on that sentence, observers might expect that Missouri’s home crowd absolutely loves the starting quarterback. However, the crowd actually booed Cook during the team’s introductions.
It’s not as if Cook played poorly in the Tigers’ first two games of the season, recording 376 total passing yards and three touchdown passes without an interception in wins over South Dakota and Middle Tennessee. Fans, however, are likely to be thrilled with the prospect of having redshirt freshman Sam Horn at center.
Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz started his postgame conference after the victory at Faurot in Columbia by discussing his displeasure over the reception Cook received.
“I’m going to say it. It pissed me off when we booed our starting quarterback to start the game,” Drinkwitz said. “He went out and played his butt off for this university and this team. They must get behind him. You must get behind this young man. You want to boo my name? Fine. You don’t boo the starting quarterback. It’s bullcrap.”
