Lulu Kennedy‘s Fashion East Since 2000, has fostered the next generation British talent by giving emerging designers a platform. For Spring/Summer 2024Fashion East welcomed a newcomer Olly Shinder, seeing Michael Stewart’s Standing Ground You can also find out more about the following: Johanna Parv Return for another Season

Olly Shider, a London-based designer who has made a name in menswear with his uniforms inspired by military themes and techno rave scenes. Shinder’s Fashion East debut was inspired by the screen-focused world we live in, breaking the silence at Yeomanry House with digitally enhanced tunes mixed by Wolfgang Tillmans. British queer fashion was represented by bare-chested, broad-shouldered men in mesh tees with open-zipped cuffs wearing gingham shirts and mesh tees. Shinder’s studded shorts, low-slung tanks, and checkered backpacks opened up new worlds.

Michael Stewart’s Standing Ground presented his third collection under the Fashion East umbrella, reflecting his Irish heritage across slithering dresses cemented like stonework. SS24 continued to evolve Standing Ground’s striking identity, looking into the world’s natural development through fossiled silhouettes. The first look, in oceanic light-blue, featured double-layered skirts with beaded ornamentation. Ruffled edges created a delicate, frozen aura with their delicate movement. Others were secured at the waist with anatomical tubes.

Johanna Parv has challenged the common sportswear industry by reinventing flexible fabrics that empower women worldwide. These garments were designed for fast-paced lives, and set a new standard in fashion design. Pop-collared shirting was slashed at the shoulders to reveal the skin underneath. Technical fabrics were tumbled and complemented with single-shouldered bag. Sports jackets with form-fitting shapes were elevated to free-flowing silhouettes, while high tech skirts draped over skintight cycling shorts. Parv’s sheer button-downs feature elongated shoulder straps, which alter the natural shape of the garment. Light blue versions have integrated accessories.
